On 29 and 30 June 2015, Wei SHEN and Hélène LE BAIL took part in an EU-China roundtable in Brussels on “Drivers and Patterns of Migration“.The event brought together 20 Chinese and European experts, researchers and officials specialised in migration issues. Hosted by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, it was co-organised by the Brussels-based EU-Asia Centre and the Confucius Institute of Lancaster with the cooperation of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM). The meeting was scheduled as a side event for the EU-China Heads of States Summit that took place at the same time.
Given the importance of people mobility between China and the EU, the aim was to develop a forum for bilateral dialogue on migration policies in an informal setting that considers a positive approach and common challenges.
Wei Shen, who was also an invited guest at the 10th EU-China Business Summit in Brussels, attended by the China’s Premier Li Keqiang and Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, considered that the roundtable ‘provided a forum for bilateral dialogue on migration policies in an informal setting that considers a positive approach and common challenges’.
