The standing research group on European space policy has grown in size and activity in recent years. The Space Policy workshops take place in different institutions in Europe every year and propose original contributions that regularly enrich the academic output of the research group.
Two previous books European Space Policy, edited by Paul Stephenson and Thomas Hoerber (Routledge, 2016) and Theorizing European Space Policy, edited by Emmanuel Sigalas and Thomas Hoerber (Lexington, 2016) have followed successful workshop discussions.
Among the recent publications we can mention the Space Policy special issue on the ‘Popularisation of Space’ edited by Harald Koepping Athanasopoulos and Thomas Hoerber (from the 2016 workshop), and two volumes from the 2017 workshop held in Cambridge: European Space Policy: Past Present and Future, and A growing Security Discourse in European Space, edited by Thomas Hoerber and Antonella Forganni and currently under revision (both with Routledge).
This year we celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Space Policy Workshop, which for the occasion will be hosted by the specialised ESA centre ESRIN, and we would like to invite new paper proposals. With a future publication opportunity in mind, we would be particularly interested in papers on the commercialisation of the space sector and its possible implications, for businesses but not only. On this basis we invite research papers from scholars at all levels, including postgraduate students, and particularly welcome submissions from practitioners in the field.
Some travel funding may become available if no departmental money is obtainable for your trip. Please indicate if you wish to apply for funding too.
Please send an abstract of 150-200 words to Dr. Thomas Hoerber (Thomas.hoerber@essca.fr) and Dr. Antonella Forganni (antonella.forganni@essca.fr).
Deadline: Monday 6st May 2019 You will be notified if your application has been successful, at the latest, two weeks later. There are no registration fees for this workshop. Venue, lunch and coffee breaks will be covered by Alliance Europa and ESSCA
